Masala Poha (Garam Masala Pohe/ Avalakki Aval Upma)

A variation from the regular Kanda Poha/ Avalakki. This is very easy to make and can be put together in about 10 minutes. My mother used to make this Poha (Flattened Rice) when we were younger. Instant Mango Shrikhand

I have always steered clear from making Shrikhand from scratch mostly because of the notion that it is laborious, time intensive and also it is loaded with calories. Now these statements are true and not a pre-conceived one. My mother and grand-mother would make Shrikhand on special occasions the traditional way, by first preparing home made yogurt from full fat milk, then tie the yogurt in cheesecloth overnight and remove the whey from the yogurt. Urad Oats Dosa

Friday night’s dinner is usually Idli or Dosa at our house and we enjoy it. For one it’s the beginning of the weekend and second nobody has complaints about the taste. This works well for me as I do not have to toil in the kitchen for a long time and the only thing to prepare is the chutney.
