Banana Pepper, Raw Banana Dry Curry

Hope you all had a good weekend. We had a wonderful yet busy weekend. We had a line of chores, but did not complete most of it. The usual complaint about the weekend is that it gets over very fast. During the week I enthusiastically plan for the weekend, but then most of the tasks don’t get done and before we know it gets over in the blink of an eye. So many things, so little time !  Last week we came up with this recipe on a whim after scanning through the ingredients in the fridge that needed immediate…

Mixed Greens Stir Fry/ Soppina Palya

Our grocery store offers a variety of fresh greens year-round, and I often find myself purchasing at least two different types each week. These leafy green vegetables are packed with nutritional value, rich in antioxidants, and excellent sources of iron and calcium. However, their short shelf life means they need to be used quickly. This recipe is perfect for using up an abundance of greens. It’s a quick fix and doesn’t require much attention. The most time-consuming part is thoroughly cleaning the greens. Keep in mind that they wilt easily when cooking, so they cook quickly. In Kannada, greens are…

Potato, Broccoli Fry/ Broccoli Sabzi

Many people I know are not fond of broccoli. But the nutritional benefit of this vegetable is hard to ignore. At home, we are not big fans of broccoli either, but we try to use it wherever possible. After it is cooked, it tastes more like cauliflower, but with an extra bite. I add some while making fried rice or even pulav. Adding onion to this dish is optional. I usually add onions to all my curries, but while making this I ran out of onions and hence I had no option. But I strongly feel that adding onions gives…

Lauki ki Sabji

Lauki does not get cooked often in our house. This vegetable along with zucchini has been deemed as having sweet taste when cooked by DH and so they get ignored. Hence they do not find a good place in our kitchen. However recently one of my colleague had brought this curry for lunch and I took a liking to it. I noted down the recipe and made it when DH was away for the day.  It is a simple curry that gets done in no time and forms a good accompaniment with either rice or rotis. Lauki (Hindi) is…

Spicy Hot Sautéed Green Chillies

Given a chance, I am sure I would be changing the look of my blog every single month! That is how much I enjoy playing with colors, trying out new looks, experimenting new features etc. But then sanity prevails and then I resort to change only when required.  So now here I am with a new theme for the blog that caters to features that I had in mind. Even though there are differences, the theme is not very different from the one I had earlier. I am almost done with the changes, but there might be few more in…

Dry Baingan Masala Curry/ Brinjal Podi

Remember the Masala powder that we made earlier? Most of the time we have been eating it along with warm rice, salt and oil. But then we had some Thai eggplants sitting in the fridge and so I used the powder to make this quick and simple dry Brinjal curry. This powder pairs well with brinjal/eggplant. The aromatic powder gives good flavor to the cooked brinjal. Other vegetables that can be used are beans, carrots, cabbage and of course potatoes. My MIL reminded me that this is referred to as Kuttida Palya in Kannada.

Indian Spiced Potato Fry/ Aloo Curry

Is the weekend here yet? Somebody please say, yes 🙂 I had a crazy hectic week at work and could not wait for it to get over. We had two of our out-of-town directors at our office and that meant more work, running from one meeting to another, extra tasks, production issues and apart from that finishing our regular work. Phew! I am so glad that is over with. As if that is not enough I have developed cold and that means constant sneezing, sniffling and headaches. Who gets a cold smack right in the middle of blazing hot summer? As…
